Tuck Wah Soong, Ph.D

Tuck Wah Soong, PhD, is a Professor of the Department of Physiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and a group leader of the LSI Neuroscience Programme of the National University of Singapore. He is a distinguished visiting scientist of the National Neuroscience Institute. From 2006-2008, he served as Asst Dean (Education) and from 2008-2017 as Head of Department. He was founding member and President of the SfN Singapore Chapter from 2009-2013. He initiated and coordinates the Singapore Graduate Programme in Neuroscience, from 2010 and he was one of the founding members of the STEP-NUS, now called TFI-NUS, Brain Camp that began in 2012. He was co-chair of the National Medical Research Council CBRG grant review panel for 2 terms, from 2012-2016. He has served on the NMRC Taskforce for Neuroscience and Sense Disorders.
Soong received his PhD under the supervision of Dr Kam Man Hui from the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, NUS, and he did his postdoctoral training with Dr Terrance P. Snutch of the University of British Columbia.
